Does it hurt a lap top to have it on a soft surface? Like a bed.?
I just got my new laptop and i don't have a desk to rest it on so I just hold it on my lap or set it on my bed. My grandmother said that it ruins the laptop because it can cover the fan that stops the laptop from overheating. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Thanks I really appreciate it 
Grandma knows best. It is indeed true. A laptop needs air circulation around the bottom to prevent its hard drive from overheating.
You should place your laptop on a solid surface if you rest it on your bed. As a suggestion, a firm cutting board or similar item could be used. You can also purchase laptop cushions that have a soft underbelly to conform to your lap and a hard top to place your computer.
