Are the adapter-to-wall cords in laptop power adapters universal?
The cord that runs between the power brick and the wall plug broke. Will any other similar cord work, or are those parts of the cord not universal? I have an extra one somewhere, but I'm not sure if it will work, because the plug might not match.

Yes they're universal. I suspect you've got a 'figure of 8' one (you can guess why it's called that). The other common type is 'kettle' or an IRC (the type that go into the back of your computer or kettle). As before, they're interchangeable.
