How do I set up a file-sharing network between laptop (vista) and computer (xp) ?
Can someone please help me set up a connection between my laptop and computer? I'm not sure what wizard I need to go through in order to make a network to share files. My laptop has vista and the pc has XP, both connected to the internet through router.
I don't know how to share files, can someone please tell me the steps?
In Vista, go to the "Network and Sharing Center" and choose "Set up a Connection or Network" from the column at the left.
In XP go to the control panel and go into the Network Connections icon. At the top left click "set up a home or office Network".
These two items will set up the network for you. After that, all you need to do is right click a folder you want to share and choose "share".
Same with a printer.
