What should I do with my jail broken iPhone that is now completely frozen?
Hey guys and gals,
I have recently jail broken my iPhone 3G (white/16GB) and all was smooth. The jail break went without any difficulty and Cydia installed fine. I messed around with it and was able to download WinterBoard and Installous. It was really for shits and giggles, I never really wanted to keep it jail broken, it was just out of curiosity....guess curiosity does kill the cat because after going into my General Setting and erasing all media and data, my iPhone is completely frozen. It has the Apple logo with a little loading wheel that sometimes goes and stops.
I've tried rebooting it by holding the sleep/home button simultaneously, and by connecting it to my laptop. iTunes does not even recognize it. I fear that I may have deleted the iPhone OS :/
I really do hope that's not the case, but if it is, what's my next step?
Put the iPhone into DFU mode. Make sure the iPhone is connected to the computer.
1. Power off the device.
2. Hold the home and power button at the same time.
3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.
4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.
From there, you should be able to restore the iPhone and download the latest iPhone OS firmware.
