Is a 5 gallon tank really big? (for a Betta)?
My 2.5 gal tank sits at my desk near the electrical outlet to plug my betta's things in. Whenever I do my homework, he starts flaring at my laptop or my textbook, which are always propped on a book holder. I have to scoot my things to the other edge of the table cause I really don't want him to damage his other gill from excessive flaring (one doesn't open).
His old heater is not working as much (temp went down to 76). I checked Pet Smart and they have a 5 gallon tank for $50.
The 2.5 is small, I can only put in one cave and two silk trees at a time when I have other things for him, too.
I have an empty shelf in my room that's on wheels and it's empty. The wheels don't move since my floor is carpeted. Should I buy the tank and should I cycle it?
A five gallon tank for a betta is fine. You could also add some shrimp if you like.
The only thing that concerns me is the "shelf" you plan on putting the tank on. When the tank is complete and full it is going to weigh around 50 pounds. Please make sure it can handle that weight.
