Do I need any additional hardware to make my laptop WiFi accessible?
The college I'm going to in the fall has a thing going where we have to have a laptop and run the campus's free WiFi in classes, etc. My question is: will I need additional equipment such as a router, wireless card, etc? If it makes a difference, I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1150 with Windows XP Home and an Intel Celeron processor. Thanks in advance.
If you want to access your school's wifi on your laptop you need first to make sure your computer has a wireless modem (if not you need a wireless USB adapter or wireless card) and you will need to enable it to pick up Wifi signals and then connect to the signal (it should tell you how in your computer owners manual).
