laptops/notebook/computer?
for christmas I was hoping to be able to buy a laptop/notebook/computer.. but i'm not sure which and stuff..
i'd be looking to spend about £300.. well as less as possible but yano.
I'd like to be able to use it for stuff like runescape n all that crap.
but any idea?
and whats the difference between a notebook and a laptop?

A notebook is the new official name for a laptop. You may be getting the term confused with NETbook, which is the name for very small notebooks such as Asus's EeePc, which can only do simple things like surf the net.
Basically you can get 3 different types of computers;
PCs, which are the large desktop bricks, and understandably the most powerful comptuers you can get.
Notebooks/Laptops (no longer allowed to be called laptops in the states and other places because it can make men sterile to have them directly on their laps) are less powerful, but can still run most applications, but for your price range don't expect any games made within the last 5 years to run well (for that you need a graphics card, which in a notebook is talking a minimum of twice what you're prepared to pay).
Netbooks, which have small screens (normally the largest go up to 12") and are extrememly portable. They do however have very slow proccessors, no hard drive space really worth speaking of (so no games), and normally have built in wifi- making them portable ways to access the internet.
I'd say it's nigh on impossible to get anything better than a netbook with your price margin, though you may be able to get a pc (wouldn't be portable) if you have a monitor lying about. Just go down to your local pc store and ask them what sort of deals and stuff they can do.
Another word of advice, don't even go looking for a Mac machine. They're really well built, amazingly shiny and all that, but far out of the normal person's budget.
