How much memory is a laptop supposed to have?
I recently downloaded some stuff onto my new laptop and i'm nt sure if the amount of space i have is good or not. Overall memory was 32.2 gb, there are 12.5 left? I have been downloading lots of stuff lately...
My laptop has Vista basic, make is Acer, celeron inside. Can you tell me if this is the normal amount of space left fora laptop?
As mentioned, the numbers you mention are not "memory". That is hard drive storage space. "Memory" is "RAM" and running Vista you should have at least 2 GB for efficiency. Often times Vista and other open applications will want even more memory and that's when they'll actually start using your hard drive space for "Virtual Memory". It's slower than RAM but better than not having it at all. My rule of thumb has always been to keep 5GB free and it works out fabulously.
