i thought that ll new computers and laptops came with microsoft installed already?
i purchased a new laptop about 2 months ago, everytime i opened word i was asked for the key code. i didnt really have time to call the computer store so i kept on working, now my trial has expired. was i wrong to think that i should have the complete version installed already? my old laptop did. and where can i purchase a product key code and for how much? thanks for any help u can offer
I think you're confusing Microsoft the company with it's various products. Most new non-Mac computers come with Microsoft Windows on them, which is your operating system. It sounds like yours also came with a trial version of Microsoft Word, which is pretty common. Very rarely does a computer come with a full version of Word.
You have a couple options. You can buy a key code from Microsoft, though I don't know the going rate for Word on it's own using the link I posted as a source. It's $109. You can also buy Microsoft Office, which includes Word, for something like $150. OR, and this is what I recommend, you can go get OpenOffice at openoffice.org and install it for free. It'll do everything Word does and you don't have to mess with the ugly and confusing ribbon that Microsoft Word has.
