Am I getting the most bang for my buck with this notebook?

ASUS G Series G50VT-X8TW NoteBook

The notebook will be primarily used for school (college) & gaming.
The speed and resolution will be great for gaming, and I like the keyboard because it has a full keypad. So, yeah.

I suggest you get a G51 series as they are the newest model and are more powerful (The G51 uses the newest Geforce card)

Here is a laptop that i would recommend:
Asus - Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology - White/Black, Model: G51VX-RX05.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics present in the laptop is comparable to a desktop's Geforce 9800 GT which is thus very powerful. (It will allow you to play Crysis at Nice visuals)

The ASUS G50VT-X8TW uses a slower Geforce 9800m gs which is only comparable to a Desktop's Geforce 9600 gt.

3Dmark06 comparison:
Geforce GTX 260M: 10227
Geforce 9800m gs: 8507

Getting a ASUS G51VX-RX05 will thus be a much better choice for gaming.
