battery for notebook isn't charging fast at all! Weren't these dell charger packs recalled due to fire hazard?
If it's not charging, is it the battery? All the light indicators are working as usual. I leave it plugged in for an hour and it's only at 18%. What up??
Oh - and the little battery/plug indicator in the lower right of my window never says charging anymore - it's either battery indicator or plugged in.
The power supplies that Dell recalled were all made in Malaysia. If you check the serial number (DS/N) on the white tag near the bottom of the power supply and it does NOT start with ML, you are OK. Most will start with CN and were made in China.
If you have a Malaysian one, it still may not be the recalled model. Check the Dell website for additional information on which batch numbers were recalled. Of the 1400 we had at the site I support only 9 were recalled.
If your battery is not charging, or charging slowly, it is more likely that the battery itself is wearing on. They have about a 2 year life expectancy. If the power supply was bad, there would be no power going to the laptop and the battery would not charge at all. You probably need to start saving for a new battery.
