how can I secure files on my hard drive behind a password?
I am a photographer and would like to have my clients images password protected in my external hard drive (Mac OS). Can I lock folders on an existing external hard drive - LaCie 1TB external, or my notebooks internal HD?
What you need is Truecrypt. Its free also. I make a file container and then you can move the file around all you want and your data is encrypted and password protected. You can mount the file and it will show up once mounted as new drive kind of like a usb or flash drive does. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
