1. What is the highest rpm available for 2.5" ATA/IDE HDs for notebooks?
2. Can an ATA/IDE HD for notebook be upgraded to (replaced) a SATA drive?

The highest rpm available for 2.5" ATA/IDE hard drive for a notebook is 7200
You can only replace an ATA/IDE HD with a SATA drive if your notbook is designed for both. Something I have never seen done in notebook design.
