What is a good wireless router that doesn't need a cd-rom drive for my HP mini notebook?
I'm tired of switching the ethernet cord from my main laptop to my mini. I want to be able to use it anywhere in my house for a quick use which is why I bought it to begin with. Mini notebooks do not come w/ a built in cd-rom drive and I do not intend on buying an external drive any time soon. What are your recommendations on a wireless router that I can buy to hook up to my modem that would work for my mini, and that doesn't require a cd-rom drive? Thank you much!
unless your computer is just plain messed up any router should work without a installation of a program via a CD. All you need to do is hook up your wireless router to your modem. your modem will broadcast a single and you can pick it up via your wireless card on your computer. The CD is so you can manage it using someone elses software. You dont need that.. I always trash the installation CDs.
You can access your routers portal on a PC via your IP submask (if thats the correct term). The address is usually http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.1.1
