Notebook Hard Drive ?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. I bought a new SATA hard drive but it does not fit. Is there an attachment that needs to be added onto the male end of the h/d that inserts into the slot????
Also, I damaged the metal sleeve on the old hard drive. Where can I find a replacement?

Sata drives require a Sata connector.
Your laptop takes an IDE Drive.
Return the Sata Drive for exchange to IDE.
Should fit ok.
As for parts,you would have to check with Dell
