Help on prices for laptop memory?
I am thinking of purchasing the Toshiba Qosmio x505 q890. When customizing the laptop why is "Kingston® 4GB PC3-8500 1066MHz DDR3 Notebook Memory Module" a $149 upgrade over the already included "6GB [1066MHz] DDR3 Memory"? I don't understand why I would pay $149 more for 2 less GB of Memory. If you can explain why this is I would appreciate it!

Your first mistake, is assuming that the stuff listed under Laptop Accessories, are upgrades.
So, you go to Toshibadirect.com and you select Qosmio... and you are brought here.

From that page, you can't start custom building one... you can only look at Pre-built ones.

So... let's select one of the ones that has 6gb.

Now.. the only place that a 4gb stick of RAM is listed, is from the Available Accessories tab. And LOOKIT all the stuff listed there... except they are not upgrades. They are ACCESSORIES. If you ordered that 4gb kingston ram stick, you know what? It wouldn't be installed in the laptop when it arrived... you would get the laptop... and a stick of RAM. Why? Because you bought a laptop, and a stick of Ram. Toshiba would not remove the 6gb of Ram already in the unit. You would get the laptop with the 6gb of Ram, and a kingston 4gb stick in separate packaging.
