Can a printer for a labtop(notebook) work without having a phone jack?
I am trying to find a printer that is compatible with my labtop, I am just not sure which one to buy. I have no phone jack to connect with the internet, I use a card to plug into side of labtop that gets me connected to the internet.
The newer Notebook PCs now use only the USB port for connecting to the older parallel ports that attached to many of the older printers.
The fact that Notebook PC manufacturers did away with the parallel port means if you still are using a printer that only has an existing parallel cable, then you must purchase a USB to Parallel Cable and then insure your Notebook PC USB port
is configured properly.
I own and use the BELKIN USB to PARALLEL F5U002 USB Parallel Printer Adapter, and don't know why BELKIN doesn't include step by step instructions on proper installation bec if DELL Technical Support couldn't answer or troubleshoot printing difficulties on a new Dell Notebook PC under warranty that at one time couldn't print until Belkin Technical Support came to the rescue...
