how do i improve my computer's speed?
my computer: HP Pavilion dv6830us entertainment notebook PC
it has Intel Core 2Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz
RAM - 3 GB
Space- 250 GB
graphics - 358 MB (intel graphics media accelerator X3100) - not sure its right, its all i could find
32-bit
Any tips on how i can improve the speed of this computer?
I play a few games on here...and cant stand the lag (sometimes)
THANKS GUYS!
The Intel 3100 is NOT a gaming graphics card. Unfortunately you can't upgrade the graphics card in that laptop. (1.83GHz dual CPU is plenty of processing power for most games - WoW runs just fine on it - with power to spare - but not with that graphics card.)
To check your computer against minimum and suggested specs for particular games, go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest (The download is harmless - I've used it dozens of times to answer questions here.)
The single largest cause of lag in most games is the video card. You can see this by checking your frame rate - anything under 30fps will appear to lag, at least a bit. And the frame rate is almost entirely up to the video card. (A 25GHz processor would give you a great frame rate with a terrible card, but you don't want to run a large AS-400 to play games.)
