To put it simply: your computer supports up to 2GB of PC2-5300 RAM using Dual Channel. You CANNOT get the max memory only one stick - the computer motherboard does not support 2GB sticks. It would be best to get 2 identical sticks of 1GB since it has been proven to be compatible and efficient.

For sure, your computer CAN use that RAM you have listed, but it would be a better investment to look for a PC2-5300 since it's a bit faster and not much more expensive. Plus the 5300 has a faster clock rate (meaning better performance) than the PC2-4200.
