Can someone help me with picking and installing RAM for my laptop?
I got my laptop about 2 years ago and it works pretty well, but I have a lot of saved stuff on here. I have music, projects for school, artwork, and so on. Not that I'm going over the limit or anything. I recently installed Sims 3 and it's been running pretty slowly. So my birthday's coming up and I'm planning to save up a bit of money to buy some more memory for my laptop. My laptop is an Acer brand with windows vista. It has 1791 MB of RAM currently. I've decided to probably get 2 GB of RAM for my laptop. And I've been looking through Best Buy. Also, installing this doesn't necessarily mean I have to get rid of my old RAM, right? Does this new RAM just build up on top of the old one? Plus, are there any tips for installing? Thanks!

Buy what they recommend. You will be buying the RAM from the company that makes it.
Ram does not just build up on itself. You have two slots in a laptop. Right now, at least one of those slots is occupied. You can either put ram in the empty slot, or you can replace the existing Ram with more. But that scanner will tell you what you have, and what you need, and give you options.
