I have mac Pismo (G3)?
Because of a RAM Crash ... i had to re-install 10.2.8... (the only boot CD I had.) I have a FireWire Ext HD with a bootable version of 10.3.9 with all my Extra applications. What the best way to use the 2
Via "preferences" then reboot the Ext HD...OR turning off my Mac and booting with OPT and choose the Ext HD.
i want to keep the 10.2 on my Int.HD because having a lot less stuff on it and for the N.et its a hell of a lot faster.
Having your new OS and Apps on an external HD is fine, if your happy to keep the older smaller OS and Apps internally and want to boot from the external drive as default, there is an application called 'Start-up Disk'(newer versions of OSX have the Startup Disk options in System Prefs), this will let you choose the default boot drive..
just a note - if you have this external drive as default, and its not plugged in when you boot, the system will still try to search for the external drive for a few seconds (5-15) then give up and load the internal one.
If you boot your internal drive, you can copy most Apps from your external HD's applications folder to the internal OS's Applications folder (some Apps need to be re-registered/activated etc.)
