What kind of battery power do I need for Four 3-5v laser diodes?
I'm building a gadget and where I need to power 4 laser diodes. The lasers are each 50mw with an operating voltage: DC3V-5V. I wired the lasers all t
I've tried wiring them in parallel to a 9.6V battery and the lasers heated up big time within seconds and now don't work at all.
What can I use to power all 4 lasers?
Sounds like you fried your laser diodes. They are NOT like light bulbs. You do not simply stick a battery across them. They typically need additional current monitoring circuitry. Also, if you wired them in parallel then it is the same as putting a 9.6V across each of them.

Now if they are laser diode modules then they probally have the circuitry built in, but still...the 9.6V likely destroyed them.
The best thing to do would be to look the part numbers up on the manufacturers website and find their datasheet and other manufacuteres recomendations...before just willy-nilly wiring things up.
