How can I reinstall xp on a computer that came pre-installed?
Basically I have a HP computer and was wondering if I were to reformat my computer, or wipe it. How would I go about re-installing xp since it came pre-installed, if this is possible?
Your computer should have come with an operating system disk. You need to boot off it. You will have the options to partition, format, and install the operating system. Installing the operating system will also format the hard drive first.
To boot off the disk, usually you need to have the disc in the drive, and as the screen with the logo comes up, there should be a note telling you which button to press to go to startup options. Press it (you don't have much time to press it, so if you miss, you can restart), and choose to boot from the CD drive.
