In short, yes.
Your HP 1005 (Asus) netbook uses standard DDR2 SODIMM RAM at 200 pins that is common in most laptops. So chances are, your notebook would have the compatible 200 pins RAM as well.
Your ram is expansible, so it would probably have another RAM slot to put the 2GB stick into.
It would most certainly make it run faster, although as a netbook it still won't be able to run heavy things like adobe programs or games; no amount of ram will make a netbook graphics card better and replace that ATOM processor with Intel.
But if you're just using it for streaming or things like that, it would be perfect.
