Okay to just unplug a laptop mouse?
I only use my mouse when I play games. When I'm using my keyboard just to type, among other things the mouse dangles there and annoys me so I use to just unplug it and set it aside and then plug it back in when I wanted to use it again. But my friend said that could damage the mouse, and make it so the software is no longer detectable by the computer eventually and I'd need to reinstall it. It's an optical mouse with a retractable cord but the cord now only retracts about halfway and the mouse is always getting bumped by my leg and things and the button gets hit sometimes so I want to be able to just plug and unplug it as needed but I don't want to have to buy another mouse since I lost the software.
yer friend is right in that usb ports do wear out. windows systems have plug n play for that type of hardware, software is not required.
