Dell upgrade kit for Vista (install problems)?
I have a new Inspiron 1705 laptop that i bought in December, and I got my Vista upgrade kit just now. I tried to install it three times, and everytime at the very end of the install on the "complete install phase" around 60% it reboots, then it says it is starting vista for the first time.....then bag blue screen for a split second (too fast to read). Then it reboots and does it again and keeps repeating the process. I have to the roll back windows for my computer to work. I have talked to numerous techs from dell and some of them are telling me i need to formate hard drive and do a fresh install. Does anybody know anything about this? I do not want erase everything and start over...especially If i am not sure it will work....
Unfortunately the tech's are probably right. The installation is stalling on an overwrite and will continue to do so until you format and do the clean install. Hopefully you backed up your data before starting the install. Good luck.
