shouldn't the extra fee cable channels be commercial-free?
Satellite radio and movie channels don't have commercials because we pay for those channels. AND We also pay for the extended channels like espn, tnt, discovery, etc.
shouldn't those paid extended channels be commercial-free also???? it seems like they collect twice from consumers AND advertisers. Walmart sued the major credit companies for similar double-dipping fees (credit card companies charge consumers and retailers transaction % fees on the same sale).
Showtime, HBO, The Movie Channel, and all the other premium channels are commercial free because you pay extra money for those channels, so they can be commercial free and still make a profit. But for ESPN, TNT, Spike, etc. you pay a fee for all those channels, and the money is split among all the channels. So, if you pay 100 bucks a month for cable, and you're getting 100 channels, the channels are only getting 1 buck each, which is not enough to make profit, so they have to have commercials in order to stay alive. Would you rather pay 10 bucks a month for ESPN in order for it to be commercial free?
