laptop wont charge but powers on without battery?
ok my 4 year old son split some liquid on my laptop (chocolate krusher from kfc to be exact) i powered off the pc removed all the liquid and allowed it to dry.
pc powered on and was working fine until it asked for a power supply. when i plugged in the charger nothing happened it didnt charge the battery i thought the charger was dead so i tried it on another laptop and it worked.
I then removed the battery and powered on the laptop it came on without the battery present and the display showed it was trickle charging.
now could this be the battery or is it the board and the charging circuit.

Model is fujutsui siemens amilo li 2727 not the best laptop in the world but ideal for 4 year olds.
You did the right thing in cleaning out the laptop and letting it completely dry before applying power. Chocolate Krusher is pretty sticky stuff though--unless you used pure grain alcohol or a cleaner specifically for electronic components, there may be some residual gunk in your laptop.
It's possible that the battery pack is damaged. However, laptops will run fine without a battery and many laptop owners will just run their laptops on AC when the battery dies after about 3 years.
At least the Chocolate Krusher didn't get between the keys!
