VPC-EB2Z1E/BQ or VPC-F12E1E/H?
Those are models of Sony Vaio's E and F series. I have the dilemma of trying to decide between those two notebooks. Their price is exactly the same 1119 Euros and the only noticeable differences is that the e series has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 and the F series has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M Graphics card (the ATI one seems to be better according to a little research I did). Although, the e series has a i5-430M core but the f series has a I5-520M (which is definitely better than the first one). Which one should I buy?
I've seen these two models E-series (15.5") and F-series (16.4"). Sony does something very creepy with its models when it comes to what CPU/GPU it will give you on the medium priced ones and the more premium ones. As you noticed the core i5 options are better on the F-series. I was assuming that GT 330M would be better, but haha it seems from web forums, Radeon performs better and is DirectX11 compliant. It is a tough call. Have you included a 7200rpm hard-drive + 8GB RAM in the price you've quoted? Also, the better screen resolution of 1920x1080?
My advice is to check the laptop in-store. My fear is that the E-series is a cheap piece of plastic, with loud keyboard and mousepad keys. If you'll buy the laptop for the next 4 years, then make sure you're not buying something that feels cheap.
Sony's standard has really fallen in the past few years. The battery should die a month after warranty ends. If you go in-store, check the BIOS, ask the vendor to reboot and show you all the BIOS options, If it's Phoenix, contains only 4 screens and looks really restrictive, then you'll know that Sony hasn't changed their bad habits.
Also if you have any issues, don't go sentimental, return it.
