What is the distance limitation for 24V AC adapter for CCTV camera?
I have to install a honeywell camera which runs on 24V ac power supply. The adapter has 1 meter wire only. But due to some reasons I need the adapter at 100 meters. So, I want to know can I use the adapter 100 meters from camera? Will there be any problem related to power drop or will it work fine?
For power, it can be as long as you need, but you need to increase the wire gauge to reduce the voltage drop. Likey, I would go for a 12 AWG cable for that distance, or use a transformer with a higher voltage and a 16 AWG cord, and expect wire losses to drop it to 24V.
Depending, it might be easier to install mains power closer to the camera, but doing mainss properly and safely might cost more than the wire you could use to extend the 24V.
