where can i buy a thermometer that works. i had 5, tested all of them and all show different temperature?
They all worked. They just have different levels of accuracy and precision, and were calibrated to different standards.
How much do you really want to spend? How critical is the measurement you're making? How precise and accurate do you need the thermometer to be? More details would help us give you better advice.
In general , thermocouples are more accurate than mercury thermometers.
