How do I replace the backlight lamp on my Dell Inspiron 6400 15.4" widescreen laptop?
I have taken off my screen before but only taken off the lid really. I have never taken it apart. How easy is it to change the backlight?
Are you sure it is the backlight? It is more likely to be the inverter which is a lot easier to change.
If it is the backlight you need to change then you need to remove the display panel from all housing and bracketry. Then you will need to take the panel apart, usually by removing tape and straightening clips out.The backlight is the tube connected to the cables, usually pink and white or blue and white. Be extra careful as these things will break easily, even if you just frown at them!
