What is the difference between WiFi and bluetooth?
Does either (or both) use RF, or are the Infrared (or something totally different.) I am aware already that each is a corporate logo and is not necessarily descriptive of what it actually is.
RF and network speed....
Bluetooth uses a radio technology called frequency-hopping spread spectrum, which chops up the data being sent and transmits chunks of it on up to 79 frequencies. Bluetooth is limited to about 35 feet and 2-3Mbps....
Wi-Fi uses both single carrier direct-sequence spread spectrum radio technology (part of the larger family of spread spectrum systems) and multi-carrier OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) radio technology. The regulations for unlicensed spread spectrum enabled the development of Wi-Fi, its onetime competitor HomeRF, Bluetooth, and many other products such as some types of cordless telephones. Roughly 2.4Ghz regarding the frequency.
WiFi Speeds are significantly higher- a good theoretical maximum with current technology is about 320 Mb/s... Good luck actually achieving that, but it is theoretical, right?
