Why do they include a wireless mouse with every wireless keyboard? I just need to buy the keyboard, not mouse
Why couldn't they remove the mouse from the package and sell wireless keyboards alone cheaper.
It's because market research says most folks who want a wireless keyboard for general use also want a mouse. There are many folks who want a wireless mouse alone, such as laptop users .
Also, the mouse is moved around while the keyboard is stationary, so it makes more sense to some to have a wireless mouse so as not to knock over soda cans, etc while mousing around.
In contrast, because the keyboard stays put, there is less motivation to have a mobile keyboard with a tethered mouse. Lots of folks who buy the wireless desktop bundles want to be able to put their mouse and keyboard "away" when not in use, so they get both.
However, this does make it more difficult to "mix and match" wireless keyboards and mice from different vendors.
There are some wireless keyboards out there, but they are usually targeted at Media Center PCs (or Vista Ultimate PCs) and have some sort of embedded mouse. You might look at those.
