Is the Panasonic CF-19 Toughbook fully submersible?
I am considering buying a laptop to accompany my non-rugedised iPod Touch [battered sides and hairline scratches covering backpiece] and mobile [Sony Ericsson K810i which didn't survive economy wash cycle in my jeans.. oops!]. Problem is I am very good at maintaining things when I don't use them regularly, but anything that I touch turns to rubble or is scratched badly within the first couple months of use.. even my wireless mouse at work has war wounds!
I am considering buying the CF-19 vs. equiv. Alienware £ PC as I don't need high-end multimedia as much as survivability. There is an almost certainty that I will have the laptop on me when I am outside and it is raining [as it tends to in Scotland] which tends to be the failing factor for most electronics!
Any help/insight would be appreciated.
Hi, I have a CF-19 myself, it is what panasonic call "fully ruggedised". It is waterproof, I use it for outdoor surveying and it operates quite happily in the pouring rain, although its a bit weird to see it covered in water and still working perfectly! It is also designed to survice a drop of nearly a metre, but I haven't tried that yet! Hope this helps
