My heating and hot water haven't been working - am I entitled to compensation?
I'm living in rented accomodation. There have been ongoing minor problems with the boiler and the landlord has had an engineer out several times to inspect. However, they have never been able to find the exact fault and I've been happy to see how things would play out. The boiler finally failed completely last Thursday and the landlord was notified (via the letting agency) last Thursday evening. He gave his immediate authorisation for the repair work to be done - a new PCB was required. Unfortunately, the part was unavailable and the heating wasn't repaired until Monday. The landlord has offered me the equivalent of 2.5 days rent free as compensation. Is this fair or am I entitled to more?
I think that your landlord is being very fair to you as he is not obligated to pay or give you anything at all since he is seen doing all he can very promptly so I would accept his offer, because if you claim that you want more compensation it could turn very nasty and you might end up with nothing other then bad feeling between yourself and the landlord.
